Brooks offers ‘nonpartisan, student-focused leadership’ in Mendham

October 27, 2025

TO THE EDITOR:

I would like to make two points in response to Henry Niemczyk’s recent statement in your paper.

First, I stand by my description of his connection to the national Project 1776 Political Action Committee (PAC) and its meddling in our local election. Your readers can find endorsements of Mr. Niemczyk on the PAC’s website and on its Facebook and Instagram pages. Those endorsements are the product of an application process that is “now closed” according to the website.

Your readers can also find the PAC’s Oct. 6 filed financial disclosure of the $6,465.68 it spent on a mailer ($5,235.61) and text blast ($1,2307.07) to Mendham Borough on the New Jersey Election Commission website. Another Project 1776 mailer arrived after the Election Commission filing. Assuming it also cost $5,200, we’re at nearly $12,000 and counting.

The Election Commission filing has a disclaimer that it is not in concert with any candidate. Do we really believe that the PAC threw a dart at a map of the United States and landed a $12,000 investment supporting a guy named Niemczyk in our small town without his involvement? That’s a miraculous bullseye.

Second, I’d like to shed some light on Mr. Niemczyk’s claim of nonpartisanship. Unbeknownst to Mr. Niemczyk, following my initial editorial supporting Tom Brooks and calling out the involvement of the national PAC, he included me on a local text string.  He asked, “Is Neil Henry a Republican or a Democrat?” That’s not the question of a nonpartisan.

The answer is “it doesn’t matter.” I’m a concerned citizen urging Mendham Borough residents to reject national political involvement in our schools and elect Tom Brooks, a local, experienced leader who delivers an exceptional high school. Mr. Brooks’ signs are in the yards of both staunch Democrats and staunch Republicans. His nonpartisan, student-focused approach is fully deserving of bipartisan support!
