Former councilman endorses Brooks for school board in Mendham
October 27, 2025
TO THE EDITOR:
As a former Mendham Borough councilman who has seen many public servants in our town and known Tom Brooks for over 25 years, I confidently say there is no one better qualified than Tom to serve as Mendham Borough’s representative on the West Morris Regional High School Board of Education.
He has been fully committed to and known our community, Mendham High School and the regional school district for 45 years. His children went to Mendham. His grandchildren went to Mendham and Central. His wife, Jane, was the librarian at Mendham. He is an active volunteer fully engaged with the town and its residents through volunteer activities spanning the entire 45 years.
His commitment and knowledge are abundantly evident in the constant work and successes at the high school during his term. Most recently, the school reported that 97% of Mendham students that took AP exams passed at least one, 94% of IB Diploma candidates earn a diploma and 88% of IB Career Certificate candidates earn a certificate!
The high school’s facilities are in outstanding shape with new and/or upgraded fields, auditorium, bathrooms and media center. A referendum that was passed two years ago will address remaining needs such as a technology room upgrade, roof repairs and air conditioning.
Tom’s commitment makes him eager to continue helping ensure the outstanding achievements of our high school’s students by making sure we hire and retain the best teachers. He recognizes they are the lifeblood of an exceptional district and are in short supply. He also is fully engaged in the school’s integration of AI and recognizes the need to ensure we produce resilient, lifelong learners and productive members of our community. Tom is a forward-thinking leader fully grounded in today’s issues.
Tom Brooks’ experience and engagement matter. He is a trusted board leader. I urge Mendham Borough residents to re-elect Tom on Nov. 4. His name will appear second on the ballot.
